Put your music on soundroo.com

Everything you make with the Soundroo toolkit stays on your computer until you want to share it. When a track is ready, your agent asks whether to put it on soundroo.com. If you say yes, it sends the score, and soundroo.com renders the audio on its own server. You get a link for each track and one for the collection, and they play in any browser.

No account needed

The first time you share from a computer, Soundroo makes an artist page for you with a made-up name, like "Neon Harbor". The toolkit keeps a key for that page on your computer, so everything you share from there goes to the same page.

Music on a new artist page is unlisted. Anyone with a link can listen, but it doesn't appear in Explore or in search engines.

A page without an owner holds up to 10 tracks. New versions of those tracks are always fine.

Keep your artist page

To keep the page, to share more than 10 tracks or to list your music on Soundroo, confirm your email address. The easiest way is to give your agent the address. It runs this command, and Soundroo emails you a link:

node bin/soundroo.js claim --email you@example.com

Open the email and press the button. If you don't have an account yet, that creates it, and the artist page becomes yours. If you already have one, the music moves into it. The links you sent around keep working either way. You can change the artist name and handle in Settings afterwards.

The first share also gives you a private claim link. It does the same thing: open it, sign in with Google, GitHub or an email link, and the page is yours. Keep it private, because whoever opens it can take the page. It expires after 30 days, and node bin/soundroo.js claim-link makes a new one.

Soundroo doesn't accept throwaway email addresses from services like Mailinator.

Who can listen

You choose two things for each track.

Visibility: public tracks appear in Explore and on your artist page, unlisted tracks play for anyone with the link, and private tracks play only for you. Public needs a claimed artist page.

Access: open tracks can be downloaded as WAV, MP3, MIDI and score, and other people can remix them if they credit you, under CC BY 4.0. Listen only tracks only stream, and you keep all rights. Open is the default.

You can change both later on the website or ask your agent to change them.

Updating and deleting

Share again after a change, and the track gets a new version at the same address. Listeners hear the newest one, and you can still play the older ones on the track page. When nothing changed, nothing is sent.

You can delete a track in Your music on the website. Its link stops working, but copies people already downloaded stay with them.

What is sent

Only the score, the mix settings, the cover settings and the collection title and description are sent. Your notes, favorites and audio files stay on your computer. Soundroo never accepts uploaded audio or images. It renders every sound itself from the score.
