Questions and answers

Does Soundroo cost anything?

No. The toolkit is open source under the MIT license, and sharing on soundroo.com is free. Your AI agent is a separate service with its own prices.

Do I need an account?

Not to make music, and not to share your first tracks. You need one to keep your artist page, to share more than 10 tracks, to list music publicly and to like, follow or comment. Signing up is one email confirmation, and your agent can start it for you. ChatGPT and Claude need an account because the connector signs in.

Who owns the music?

You keep whatever rights you have in your music. Open tracks on soundroo.com are shared under CC BY 4.0, so others may use and remix them if they credit you. Choose listen only if you don't want that. Music you make with the toolkit and never share is yours to use however you like. Whether AI-assisted music can be copyrighted depends on your country.

Can Soundroo sing?

No. Soundroo can speak short phrases with a small voice model on your computer and turn them into rhythmic chops or a robot voice. It doesn't make sung vocals.

Why does the first track sound different from what I asked for?

The agent can't hear the music. It writes a score from your words and checks the sound for technical problems. Listen, then tell it what to change in plain words. "Faster", "less piano", "make the chorus hit harder" and "keep the bass line" all work.

Does the toolkit send my music anywhere?

Not until you say yes to sharing. Making, playing and exporting music works offline. When you share, only the scores, mix settings and titles are sent. Your notes, favorites and audio files stay on your computer.

Can I use the music in a video or a game?

Yes. Download the WAV from the toolkit's player or from an open track on soundroo.com. Credit the artist if the track is someone else's open track.

Something doesn't work

Tell your agent what you see. It can often fix the problem itself. If the toolkit has a bug, open an issue on GitHub. To report a track or an artist page, use the track's menu on soundroo.com.
